Reșița lays in the middle of the Banat Mountains. Two national parks, Semenic — Caraș Gorge and Nera Gorge — Beușnița, provide quick access to hiking trails, offroad experiences, wild nature and spectacular scenery. Four lakes: Secu, 3 Ape, Gozna-Văliug and Buhui are a treat for those with a passion for fishing, open water swimming and other water sports. Lakeside leisure sites and pontoons attract regular visitors from neighboring counties in search of fun, sunbathing or diving into crisp waters.
Sky slopes are ready in winter-time for snow lovers at Semenic-Văliug, Muntele Mic and Gărâna. The ski domain, as well as fthe facilities for year-round sports activities are undergoing investments for extension and upgrading, aimed to position Semenic — Văliug as one of the largest ski domains in Romania. These add to the city’s sport infrastructure featuring a lively football stadium, an olympic swimming pool and a soon to be inaugurated brand new multipurpose hall. Reșița’s residents also enjoy dozens of km of urban cycling paths and mountain bike trails crisscrossing its neighboring forests. Annual sports events such as Running in the Forest, Community in Motion and Reșița Mountain Bike Race attract thousands of participants, locals and visitors alike.
Culture
Custom Festival, hosted on one of Reșița’s neighobring hilltops, gathers participants from all over the region. This adds to the internationally reputed Gărâna Jazz Festival, which counted its 28th edition in 2025 and has been recently joined by two younger siblings — Wolf-Blues Festival and Gărâna Folk extending the target audience to wider music tastes.
The West Theater runs monthly shows and a much appreciated international theater festival, while the recently opened Pittner Cultural Center hosts regular cultural and community events. Reșița boasts an outstanding industrial heritage, revealed by regular tours, pop-up exhibits, local museums and other events.

In terms of costs of living, Reșița is highly affordable to live in. Rent prices are as low as €300-350 for a fully furnished 3 room apartment. Also, you can dine out for less than €15 and enjoy a pint of local beer for €2.
